Toyota Camry specs by year (2022–2024)

Quick answer

Toyota Camry specs by year

One row per model year. Every figure comes from that year's owner's manual (page cited on the year page), NHTSA or fueleconomy.gov — nothing is estimated. A blank cell means we have not read that figure yet; it gets filled in as soon as the manual for that year is checked.

Engine oil capacity by year

Across the years checked here, the 2.5 L gasoline engine takes 4.5–4.8 qt with a filter change and 4.2–4.4 qt without one. The difference between the two numbers is the oil held in the filter, which is why the "with filter" figure is the one to buy against: at 4.8 qt you need 5 one-quart bottles, and what is left over is what you use for top-ups between changes.

The figure is not constant across the run. 2022 and 2024 sit 2 model years apart, and the engine, oil pan and filter are not the same parts throughout — 2022 is listed at 2.5L 4.8 · V6 5.7 · Hybrid 4.8 qt with filter, 2024 at 2.5L 4.5 · V6 5.7 · Hybrid 4.5 qt. That is why a capacity quoted for one year is not safe to use on another, even when the engine displacement looks identical.

Recommended viscosity moved as well: the 2022 manual calls for 2.5L: 0W-16; 3.5L V6: 0W-20, the 2024 manual for 2.5L: SAE 0W-16 (0W-20 allowed, replace with 0W-16 at next change), ILSAC GF-6B; 3.5L V6: SAE 0W-20 (5W-20 allowed), ILSAC GF-6A. Use the grade printed for your year — where a manual allows a substitute it also says to go back to the recommended grade at the next oil change.

Tire size & pressure by year

The Toyota Camry has been offered on 205/65R16, 215/55R17, 235/45R18, 235/40R19 across the years checked here, and the size that fits your car is set by the wheel package it left the factory with, not by the model year. Pressure is what varies most: cold inflation pressure across these years runs 33–36 psi, and in most years the same nominal tire size carries different pressures on different wheel packages.

Check the tire placard on the driver's door jamb — the manual lists every configuration and your car has one of them. Set pressures cold, before the car has been driven. The spare, where fitted, is inflated much higher than the road wheels; that is correct, do not bleed it down to match.

Recalls by year

The recall count column is the number of NHTSA campaigns recorded against that model year, read from the NHTSA recalls database on 2026-10-15. A campaign is not a prediction that your car is affected — coverage depends on build date, plant and options. Enter your own VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see what is still open on your car; a recall stays open until the work is done, even after the car changes hands.

What changed between years

Comparing the oldest and newest years read so far: oil capacity with filter went from 2.5L 4.8 · V6 5.7 · Hybrid 4.8 qt (2022) to 2.5L 4.5 · V6 5.7 · Hybrid 4.5 qt (2024), tire sizes from 205/65R16, 215/55R17, 235/45R18, 235/40R19 to 205/65R16, 215/55R17, 235/45R18, 235/40R19, and cold pressure from 33–36 psi to 33–36 psi. Where an engine or wheel option exists in one year and not another, the table shows it as a difference in that row instead of a single "typical" figure for the whole model.

Still to check: 2023. Those rows stay blank until the owner's manual for each year has been read and page-cited — an empty cell beats a number nobody can verify.

Trouble codes we cover

If the Camry sets a check-engine light, these pages explain how each code is defined and what manufacturer documents say about it. A code tells you which system failed its self-test, not which part to replace — read it before buying parts.
